Fragile Families Network Founder
Dr. Glenda Clare has been serving as a health professional for more than 20 years.  She has worked with populations impacted by HIV/AIDS, substance abuse, incarceration, domestic violence, foster care and homelessness.

Her approach to public health and counseling is rooted in her own personal experiences.  She grew up in the South Bronx of New York City, and is intimately acquainted with the dangers threatening the physical and psychological well-being of families every day.

Now a resident of North Carolina, Dr. Clare founded the Fragile Families Network (FFN) to create a resource for health and human service professionals. She understands the importance of personal and professional wellness for those who work to heal the most fragile members of our communities.

A leading member of national training teams, Dr. Clare has facilitated training for health and human service professionals from all walks of life. She has worked with members of religious groups, community-based organizations, neighborhood associations, the criminal and juvenile justice systems, the mental and public health systems and local, state and national government.

Dr. Clare is also a licensed Baptist minister, and has developed a blend of both northern and southern cultural heritage. This allows her to be practical, yet polished and refined, as she brings hope, humor and faith to those who deal with some of our nation’s most challenging issues.

She is the author of “Don’t Adopt that Child!—Things Grandparents and Other Relatives Need to Know Before Assuming Custody,” a powerful, personal account of her own experience with the process of guardianship, and “8  Steps to Abundant Living for Justice Professionals working with fragile families.”  Both titles are scheduled for publication and release in 2010.
